WHAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN A LETTER OF SUPPORT 

  1. Letters should be written on the letterhead of the organization providing the LOS.  

  2. For LOS indicating matching contributions, the following should be included:

  3. Amount to be contributed 

  4. Type of contribution (in‐kind/cash) 

  5. If in‐kind, an indication of how the in‐kind amount was decided or calculated

  6.  If based on a fund‐raising event or other future action

  7.  if that future action fails, will the contribution amount still be provided? 

  8. When the contribution will be made 

  9. Confirmation that the contribution has not been used to meet any other federal program match or cost share requirements  

LETTERS OF SUPPORT INDICATING SIGNIFICANT PARTNERSHIP

  1. For LOS indicating significant partnership, commitment of location for implementation, agency involvement, etc. a variety of the following can be included: 

  2. Integral connection between organization writing letter and the project goals and objectives 

  3. Interest or commitment to implementation on land 

  4. Additional benefits that the project will provide to organization’s mission 

  5. Commitment to maintenance after project end date if applicable
